Dietetics majors in a nutrition assessment lab at SUNY Oneonta take body measurements such as height, weight, wrist and waist diameter to determine each other’s fat mass, fat-free mass and total body water. During the class taught by dietitian Kelly Tiderencel, a lecturer in Human Ecology, students learn to use tools including bioelectrical impedance machines, skinfold calipers and a Bod Pod, a device which uses air displacement to measure body composition.<br />
