SUNY Oneonta senior Conor McElhearn '14 (in beige jacket) and teammates discuss their participation in the College Fed Challenge, an economics team competition for undergraduates, as they sit in a campus coffee shop in Hunt Union. McElhearn and teammates Angelica Aldana (with long hair), Andrew Boylan (in black jacket) and Abby Renneman (with short hair) made it to the semi-final round of the Second District’s 2013 College Fed Challenge, held at the New York Federal Reserve Bank. Inspired by the working of the Federal Open Market Committee, the competition requires that students work as a team to research and analyze current economic data, develop a forecast and review potential future economic risks, and develop a presentation and answer questions on a recommendation for monetary policy. The Student Travel For Excellence Fund covered a portion of the students’ expenses.<br />
